Epistle

Haesong Kwon was the winner of the 2014 Laurence Goldstein Poetry Prize. His poem, “Epistle,” was published in the Fall 2014 edition of the Michigan Quarterly Review and can be found via our archives.

There has been a long storm,
but he is standing beside me.

He shows me the way.

I go to the village where I was born.

He hands me the bottle,
for the grave and rite.

He is my age
and has small children.

A cousin has taken over the land.

I am wearing my suit.

I have the window
on the train.
