And … we’re off. To Chicago. Along with at least 9,300 of our dearest friends aka readers and writers. As you know if you’ve been, and you suspect even if you haven’t, AWP can be overwhelming, the kind of extravaganza that feels like it should feel like home but doesn’t quite. After all, most of us who will be there spend a great deal of time alone, and then, once a year, we squeeze ourselves into “extrovert-in-hyperdrive” mode. The maneuver is not unlike wearing spandex. Only a few look and feel truly fabulous, and it can be a cocktail for well, cocktails. But, it’s also amazing.
Readers and writers! … and so many of them that they’re overwhelming. It’s the kind of overwhelming that I cherish even while I squirm. If you find yourself squirming, we hope that you’ll head to the Michigan Quarterly Review table in the Book Fair (P2) for a little dose of home. Mind you, it’s unlikely to feel like home, but we’ll welcome you warmly. Â Come on by and say hello, learn about the journal, and tell us what you’re into.
A schedule follows with the who’s who of table staffing so that you can find your favorites and/or make new friends. In addition to the formally scheduled folks, you’re likely to find any number of editors, journal contributors, blog contributors, and interns when you head our way. We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
